Would you like to be added to the list of persons interested in serving as a precinct election official to work at the polls on election day? More information along with an interest form can be found below.

The Des Moines County Auditor’s Office is looking for interested individuals to work at polling places on Election Day! Are you friendly, dependable, civic-minded and detail-oriented? Apply to be a precinct election worker! No experience is necessary and training is provided.

Election board members must be registered voters of Des Moines County, their attendance must be dependable and they must get along well with others. Duties are shared among three to eight officials depending on the number of expected voters at the polling place for a particular election.

The Election Day for a Primary or General begins at 6:00 a.m. and ends around 10:00 p.m. and for a City/School Election, the day begins at 6:00 a.m and ends around 9:00 p.m. The work is rewarding, time spent standing is minimal, and workers must remain at the polls all day. Precinct election officials are currently paid $10 per hour.
