OFFICIAL NOTICE OF GENERAL ELECTION
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2022 – POLLS OPEN 7:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO THE ELIGIBLE VOTERS OF DES MOINES COUNTY, STATE OF IOWA, THAT THE GENERAL ELECTION WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2022.
A list of candidates is listed in this notice. State Representative District candidates depends on which precinct the voter resides.
Voters must vote in their precinct and polling place of residence. Due to the 2022 Reprecincting polling locations have changed for some voters. If you are unsure of your voting location for this election, please contact the Des Moines County Auditor & Commissioner of Elections at (319) 753-8232 (Press 5).

Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered, such as voters registering to vote on Election Day and voters changing precincts, must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification or prove residence if required: 1) may have voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the County Auditor’s office by November 14th at Noon. Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification. Voter pre-registration deadline is October 24th at 5:00 PM at the Des Moines County Auditor’s Office.
Absentee ballots will be available in the County Auditor’s office during regular business hours.

Summary: Provides that the right of the people of Iowa to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The sovereign state of Iowa affirms and recognizes the right to keep and bear arms as a fundamental right. Any and all restrictions of this right shall be subject to strict scrutiny.
FULL TEXT:
Article I of the Constitution of the State of Iowa is amended by adding the following new section: Right to keep and bear arms. Sec. 1A. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. The sovereign state of Iowa affirms and recognizes this right to be a fundamental individual right. Any and all restrictions of this right shall be subject to strict scrutiny.
PUBLIC TEST OF VOTER EQUIPMENT
Public testing of the Des Moines County voting equipment will begin on October 31st at 9:00 AM in the Public Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor at the Des Moines County Courthouse, according to the provisions of 52.35. The public is invited to attend.
POST-ELECTION AUDIT
The Post-Election Audit will be held on Wednesday, November 16th at 9:00 AM in the Public Meeting Room on the 2nd Floor at the Des Moines County Courthouse, according to the provisions of Iowa Code 50.51
