WEST BURLINGTON COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
SPECIAL ELECTION
Notice is hereby given to the qualified electors of the West Burlington Community School District in the County of Des Moines, State of Iowa, that a Special Election in and for said district will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The polls of said election will be open from 7:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.
The ballot will contain Public Measure A
“Shall the Board of Directors of the West Burlington lndependent School District, in the County of Des Moines, State of lowa, for the purpose of purchasing and improving grounds; constructing schoolhouses or buildings and opening roads to schoolhouses or buildings; purchasing of buildings; purchase, lease or lease-purchase of technology and equipment; paying debts contracted for the erection or construction of schoolhouses or buildings, not including interest on bonds; procuring or acquisition of libraries; repairing, remodeling, reconstructing, improving, or expanding the schoolhouses or buildings and additions to existing schoolhouses; expenditures for energy conservation; renting facilities under Iowa Code Chapter 28E; purchasing transportation equipment for transporting students; lease purchase option agreements for school buildings or equipment; purchasing equipment authorized by law; or for any purpose or purposes now or hereafter authorized by law, be authorized for a period of ten (10) years, to levy annually, a voter-approved physical plant and equipment property tax not to exceed One Dollar Thirty-Four Cents ($1.34) per One Thousand Dollars ($1,000) of the assessed valuation of the taxable property within the school district commencing with the levy for collection in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027, or each year thereafter?”

Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on election day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification or prove residence if required, 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by March 6th. Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification. NOTICE OF ELECTION FOR
THE CITY OF MEDIAPOLIS EMS DISTRICT
Pursuant to prior public notice and public hearing the City of Mediapolis did establish the City of Mediapolis EMS District on December 2, 2024 pursuant to Iowa Code Section 357G.2 and 357G.4. The City of Mediapolis approved on January 6, 2025 the Engineer’s Report for the City of Mediapolis EMS District. Pursuant to Iowa Code Section 357G.8, an election must be held to establish the initial levy for the EMS District and to elect three trustees.
PLEASE BE ADVISED that on March 4, 2025 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Mediapolis City Hall, an election shall be held to approve or disapprove the levy of an initial tax of $0.79 per $1,000.00 of assessed value on all the taxable property (not including agricultural land or centrally assessed property) within the district and to choose candidates for the offices of trustee of the district. The ballot measure shall provide as follows:
The City of Mediapolis EMS District has been created to fund Emergency Medical Services within the District, to be provided by the Community Ambulance Service, and in order to pay the costs of this service it is necessary to levy a tax of $0.79 per $1,000.00 of assessed value on all taxable property (not including agricultural land or centrally assessed property) within the District. If you approve the levy of this tax, vote Approve and if you disapprove of this tax, vote Disapprove.

Pursuant to prior public notice and public hearing the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors did establish the Des Moines County EMS District on December 3, 2024, pursuant to Iowa Code Section 357F.2 and 357F.4. The Des Moines County EMS District is comprised of Washington, Yellow Spring, Benton, Huron, Jackson, and Franklin Townships.
